#Responsible digital strategy

It is necessary to educate for a new digital culture and raise awareness among all of the employees in your organisation. But in order to bring about real change, it is necessary to develop your teams’ skills in the field of digital technology and the environment, and therefore to train them. A few examples of the skills to be acquired through training:

  • Understanding of global environmental issues and mastering the subject of the direct and indirect impacts of digital technology.
  • Development of critical thinking (in order to actively combat all forms of whitewashing: green-washing, social-washing, etc.).
  • Understanding of the Notion of the life cycle of a digital device or service.
  • Accessibility and eco-design of digital services.
  • Mastering the issues and good practices involved in the purchasing of equipment and the extension of its lifespan.
  • Management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and reuse.

Depending on the target audience or department (purchasing, design, operations, etc.), it is preferable to adapt the training by focusing on specific aspects (such as eco-design for design teams). In addition, these skills can be integrated into the organisation’s strategic human resource planning.

  • In-house training in the repair of out-of-warranty equipment enables the extension of its lifespan. It also reduces the environmental impact of transporting equipment and parts to distant repair centres and provides the possibility of using reconditioned parts. The advantages?
  • Financially, in-house repair of equipment is often more cost-effective than taking out extended warranties for equipment breakdowns.
  • At the organisational level, this reduces the rate of equipment unavailability by ensuring the availability of a few spare parts. It also enables the improvement of equipment performance through the replacement of certain parts with more efficient components.

When in-house repair is not possible, give priority to specialist local businesses and associations.
